  The wait time is a little long and when they sent me my paperwork, some of the verbal information they got from me had been completely reversed; but they have been very patient about my paperwork being returned late because my illness effects my eyes and consintration. Most would have already denied my case. They even sent copies of each packet in extra large print.

  We just relocated to Fort Campbell, KY from Washington State. We also just adopted a child prior to leaving Washington. It was final Friday and we left for Fort Campbell Sunday. Our lawyer told us we would need to apply for a name change to her SS card. I've been to the Hopkinsville office twice with no results. The second time I went in the woman at window 2 was cold and unfriendly. She treated me like I was trying to get a card for a child that did not exist even though I had the child with me. She told me that her new birth certificate and recent adoption papers were not sufficient identification with no explanation other than the birth certificate wasn't "a current document". What about the adoption papers with all her information on it and are date stamped less than a month ago? Even I after I asked why and she just repeated "it's not a current document". WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?! Either she hates her job or she is a very unhappy person. Going through the adoption process is long and stressful along with a long distant move. To have to deal with a federal government employee that our tax dollars way the wages of who obviously doesn't want to be helpful in any way just adds to an already stressful situation. I am going to try a different office and hopefully I will at least encounter someone who knows how to smile.
